Chick N' Friends has reopened after several months of closure due primarily to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The extended closure allowed us to reorganize our family business with new family ownership, as well as introduce new comfort foods to round out our menus for take-out and delivery. We are proud to announce Kemberly Lloyd-Estep has taken the reigns of our 34 years of serving the Columbia and Howard County markets.
Chick N' Friends was first launched in 1987 in Long Reach Village Center, Columbia, Maryland. Cassandra and Rhodney Lloyd founded the fried chicken concept after operating several years as Lloyd-Ewing, Lloyd & Company. The Company is an equipment dealer and specialty wholesale supplies distributors. Chick N' Friends operated for 10 years in the Long Reach Village Center, and is currently located in Owen Brown Village for the past 4 years.
Lloyd-Ewing, Lloyd & Company is the exclusive sales and marketing team for the Chick N' Friends Trademark Program. The Company represents specialty commercial equipment manufacturers and flour mills and blenders for proprietary breading, mixes and rubs.
Chick N' Friends is now in its 14th year of operation, and is the longest running independent Minority-owned restaurant in Howard County, Maryland. The brand has developed a loyal customer following over the years and we appreciate the on-going support the communities of Columbia have offered.
With the COVID-!9 Pandemic the restaurant industry has been hard hit overall, however there is substantial growth in certain menu concepts, fried chicken being one of the leading take-out and delivery menu concepts operating today. Chick N' Friends closed when the shelter-in-place ordnance was initiated by the State of Maryland.
Kemberly Lloyd-Estep is carrying on the family legacy with a focus on offering the highest quality comfort foods, and superior customer service as we all pursue some measure of normalcy during this Pandemic.
The economics of fried chicken in America is at an all time high, the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects Americans will consume 92 lbs. of chicken per person in 2020. The retail sector of the restaurant industry has shown grown of 5.7% t o$34.7 Billion for Franchised fried chicken chains in the U.S.
With these market opportunities based on strong consumer demand the opportunities for retail growth are ripe.
